About HERA-ME

Our Mission

The Health and Environment Response Agency (HERA) is a Lebanese non-governmental organization dedicated to addressing the health and well-being of individuals and the environment surrounding them. We focus on the effects of natural and anthropogenic pollutants and their impact on the health of individuals, especially vulnerable communities in the MENA region.

Our Vision

We believe that we cannot separate human beings from their environment. HERA's vision is a style, an approach, a whole manner of living where individuals can interact with their environment without any harm. We envision a world where individuals live in a healthy environment while thinking of future generations through clear policies and action plans.

Founded in 2021

HERA was established by three visionary experts who shared a common passion for improving environmental health outcomes across the MENA region. Since our founding, we have grown to become a leading organization in environmental health research and capacity building in the Middle East and North Africa.

• Research: Conducting innovative research on environmental health exposures and their effects on vulnerable populations
• Capacity Building: Strengthening healthcare workers' and professionals' capabilities in environmental health
• Awareness: Raising awareness about environmental health risks among the public and vulnerable groups
